Description
“At the head of a group that has after more than 50 years, become a world leader in children’s fashion, Roger Zannier is today involved also in several wine-making regions in Portugal.
While travelling frequently to Portugal for his textile activities, Roger Zannier discovered the “Quinta do Pessegueiro” and fell literally under the spell of the estate and the Douro region. In 1991, he became the owner and immediately set to work planting, working with the traditional Douro grape varietals as well as some older vine field blends.
With winemaker João Nicolau de Almeida on board, himself a 3rd Generation winemaker from one of the most distinguished and revered wine dynasties in Portugal, the stage was well set.
The estate has been expanded over time and now comprises three plots of land, all situated in the Douro region, with such traditions as foot-treading for all grapes maintained in their 3 lagares, because they truly believe that this (human) way of method allows them to extract the best from every grape, in order to fulfill their very specific quality objectives. This combined with the ultra modern, custom built facilities combine to produce wines of superb quality and value for money.”
