Grillo 2011

MOP 510.00

A deep, intense cherry red wine with violet rims. An elegant nose that increases in intensity as it breathes. Aromas of ripe red fruit and spices such as black pepper stand out, with deeper toasted accents from the 14 months ageing in French oak barrels. At mid-palate it is a full-bodied, rounded wine with soft tannins due to correct ripening. It has a noteworthy acid-alcohol balance making it a very dense wine that is easy to drink. It has a long, persistent finish due to the intensity of the fruit and toast aromas at mid-palate.
Bottle Size: 750 ml
Grape: 44% Syrah, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Garnacha, 7% Merlot

Description

“El Grillo y La Luna was born from the dream of the Calvo & Pan Families who, after several generations working on the land, decided to make their dream a reality and produce their own wine from the grapes they had cultivated for so many years.
In a tiny winery in Somontano with an extraordinary terroir, and the collaboration of Flying Winemaker Michel Rolland, they produce complex wines with personality, wines that convey the spirit of the land from which they come.
The name Somontano means “foothill” and this area has a winemaking heritage dating back to the 2nd century B.C. with a perfect climate for cultivating grapevines, and a great variety of soils and heights with many diverse grape varietals.
The main goal is to handle the grape as little as possible, without touching the grapes with pumps or any other mechanical picking mechanism. The grapes are transported from the harvest crate to the storage area using vibrating sorting tables and conveyor belts.
Each wine is made from a yield of no more than 5,000 kilos of grapes, this allows them to divide the vineyards into different areas and maintain the typicity of the different terroirs.”
