Description

“Emilie Geantet founded her estate in 2005. After graduating from university, Emilie worked for several years with her father Vincent (head of the Domaine Geantet-Pansiot estate), reinforcing her training in wine making, and modeling her approach to the job on her father’s style before deciding to set up a business of her own in which she could further exercise her talent and love for winemaking.
Emilie’s style is a similar one to Geantet-Pansiot, as the winemaking is still carried out by Emilie and her father, if not less rustic. The grapes are harvested from the 3.5 hectares of vineyard from one contracted grape grower in Brochon, Gevrey-Chambertin and Fixin. After the grapes are carefully selected by Emilie, they are picked over again by a fruit sorter before destemming and fermentation.
Conscious of traditional techniques, remontage and pigeage is carried out twice a day. 30% of the wine is aged for 12-13 months in new barrels and the rest in 1 or 2 year old barrels. It is lightly filtered with no lees extraction, and then bottled. For this young wine maker, the excellent results are due to a severe selection of the grapes as well as a vinification favoring the expression of the fruit. The wines of Emilie Geantet are fast finding their own market in Europe, and are now available in Macau exclusively through Claret Wines.”
